OUTDOOR & LANDSCAPE LIGHTING

The Hours After Sunset Are Yours to Design

The right outdoor lighting transforms your property after dark showcasing your landscaping, extending the use of your patio, and improving safety along pathways and steps.

At B&F Landscaping, we design and install professional low-voltage LED landscape lighting systems for homeowners across Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, and the surrounding areas.

Every lighting installation starts with a design consultation and nighttime walkthrough of your property because landscape lighting needs to be designed in the dark, not on paper.

We install premium low-voltage LED systems that are energy-efficient, smart-home compatible, and backed by professional warranties.

WHAT WE DESIGN

Layers of Light, Composed for Your Property

Great outdoor lighting is never one fixture doing all the work. We combine techniques so each element of your landscape has a reason to be seen after dark.

01

Path & Walkway Lighting

Soft, low-glare pools of light that guide guests along walkways, steps, and driveways — safety that looks intentional, never institutional.

02

Architectural Uplighting

Directional fixtures that graze stone, brick, and columns to reveal the texture and stature of your home's exterior after sunset.

03

Hardscape & Step Lighting

Lighting integrated directly into retaining walls, seat walls, and stair risers — fixtures you feel the effect of without ever seeing the source.

04

Tree & Moonlighting

Fixtures placed high in canopy trees cast a gentle, dappled glow downward — the effect of natural moonlight falling across your lawn and patio.

05

Garden & Accent Lighting

Specimen plantings, water features, and focal points lit with restraint, so the eye is drawn exactly where the design intends.

06

Patio & Outdoor Living

Pergolas, outdoor kitchens, and fire features lit for ambiance and function — so the space you invested in stays usable long after dark.

Our Process

Step 1 — Daytime Consultation

We visit your property during the day, walk the space, discuss your goals, and identify key features worth lighting.

Step 2 — Nighttime Walkthrough (Optional but Recommended)

For larger projects, we recommend a nighttime walkthrough to assess existing light conditions, identify dark zones, and test fixture placement before finalizing the design.

Step 3 — Lighting Design

We produce a lighting plan showing fixture types, placement, zones, and transformer sizing. For larger properties, we design the system in zones for independent control.

Step 4 — Installation

Our crew installs all fixtures, runs low-voltage wire below grade, installs transformers, and programs controls. All wire runs are installed with burial-depth compliance and marked for future reference.

Step 5 — Night Commissioning

We return at dusk to walk the property with you, make any final aiming adjustments, and confirm every fixture is performing as designed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Landscape lighting costs depend heavily on the number of fixtures, property size, and system complexity. A basic pathway and accent lighting package for a typical residential property typically ranges from $2,500 to $6,000. A comprehensive system covering pathways, trees, patio, and facade lighting for a larger property is typically $6,000–$15,000. We provide detailed itemized quotes during your free consultation.

  • Low-voltage landscape lighting runs on a 12V system powered by a transformer that plugs into a standard outdoor outlet. Wire is run below grade from the transformer to each fixture. Installation typically involves minimal disturbance to existing landscaping — we route wire under mulch, along edges, and through existing beds.

  • LED landscape lighting requires minimal maintenance. Annual inspection is recommended to check transformer settings, re-aim any shifted fixtures, and clear debris from around ground-level fixtures. LED fixtures do not need bulb replacement for 15+ years under normal use. We offer annual maintenance plans if you'd prefer professional service.

  • Yes — we regularly add lighting to existing hardscape and structures. For pergolas, we can route wire through existing posts if access allows, or surface-mount conduit discreetly. For patios, we run wire under paver edges or through expansion joints where possible.

  • For most homeowners, yes. Smart controllers allow you to adjust brightness, set schedules, and control lighting zones from your phone without walking to the transformer. They also make seasonal time adjustments automatic. The cost premium over a basic timer is modest — typically $150–$300 — and the convenience is significant.

  • Most residential landscape lighting installations take 1–2 days. Larger properties with multiple zones and complex routing may take 2–3 days. Night commissioning adds a brief evening visit.

WHY B&F LANDSCAPING

A Design-Build Standard, Applied to Light

Most Indianapolis lighting companies install a kit. We design a system — and we stand behind every fixture we place.

See It in 3D First

Every project includes a photorealistic 3D rendering, so you can see exactly how your home will look illuminated before a single fixture goes in the ground.

In-House Crews, Start to Finish

We don't subcontract. The same team that designs your lighting installs it — cleanly, precisely, and accountable to one standard.

Low-Voltage LED, Built for Indiana

We specify quality low-voltage LED systems and freeze-thaw-rated fixtures chosen to perform through Midwest winters, not just look good in July.

Integrated With Your Hardscape

Adding a patio, wall, or outdoor kitchen? We design the lighting into the build, hiding wiring and fixtures within the masonry for a seamless finish.

Unilock-Certified & BBB Accredited

The same craftsmanship credentials behind our award-quality hardscapes apply to the lighting that brings them to life at night.

Designed to Be Effortless

Timers, photocells, and zoned controls mean your lighting comes on at dusk and turns off on its own — beauty that runs itself.

THE INVESTMENT

What Landscape Lighting Costs in Indianapolis

Every property is different, so we price each system to the home rather than to a package. As a guide, most professional residential landscape lighting projects in the Indianapolis area fall between $2,500 and $6,500+, depending on fixture count, the size of your property, and how much wiring and integration the design calls for.

Beyond the evening enjoyment, quality outdoor lighting is one of the more rewarding exterior improvements you can make — it extends the usable hours of the spaces you've already invested in, strengthens curb appeal and home value, and adds a quiet layer of safety and security around entrances and walkways.

Your consultation and 3D design come with a clear, itemized investment range — no surprises, no pressure.
